Das erste Highlight für 2011 ist da: Adele kündigte soeben ihr lang erwartete zweites Album für den 21.Januar 2011 an!
Vorab wird es natürlich eine Single geben: “Rolling In The Deep” heißt das gute Stück, das am 14. Januar 2011 digital erhältlich sein wird. Der Song wurde von Adele und Paul Epworth geschrieben und produziert und von Adele selbst als “dark bluesy gospel disco tune” beschrieben.
Über ihr neues Album sagt sie : “I’m very excited, nervous, eager, anxious but chuffed to announce my new album! It’s taken a while and it knocked me for six when writing it. It’s different from “19”, it’s about the same things but in a different light. I deal with things differently now. I’m more patient, more honest, more forgiving and more aware of my own flaws, habits and principles. Something that comes with age I think. So fittingly this record is called “21”. The whole reason I called my first album “19” was about cataloging what happened to me then and who I was then, like a photo album you see the progression and changes in a person throughout the years”.
Ein Grossteil des Albums entstand in Malibu im Studio des legendären Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Jay Z, Red Hot Chilli Peppers) und in London beim kaum weniger bekannten Paul Epworth (Plan B, Bloc Party, Florence). Adele nennt u.a. Wanda Jackson, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Mary J Blige, Mos Def, Elbow, Tom Waits und Kanye West als Key-Einflüsse für “21”.
Trotz ihres noch jungen Alters kann Adele bereits auf eine beachtliche Karriere zurückblicken. Mit 19 erhielt sie als erste Künstlerin den BRITS Critics’ Choice Award. Ihr Mercury-nominiertes Debütalbum „19“ stieg direkt auf Nr. 1 der UK-Album-Charts, wurde mit Doppel-Platin ausgezeichnet und verkaufte mehr als 2 Millionen weltweit. Ihre Debütsingle “Chasing Pavements” war ebenfalls ein Riesenhit, erreichte Nr. 2 in den UK und wurde rund um den Globus zum Erfolg. 2009, mit gerade mal 20 Jahren, erhielt Adele 2 Grammys: Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Adele hatte wahrlich einen guten Start; aber aufgepasst: Kapitel 2 beginnt gerade erst!
